Eyewitness: Where’s Wally record attempt | World news | guardian.co.uk Edit: This is a UK story. Thanks to Young Manhattanite for pointing out: “Because in England, Waldo means penis, because everything means penis to the English.” Edit: Yikes. Wally is his original name, he was created by an Englishman named Martin Handford. Incidentally, Wally has all kinds of localized names, my favorites of which have got to be Willy (Norway) and Effy (Israel) for the obvious reference. Thanks go to Stacey for setting me straight.
